Knee Injuries

The Knee is a complex joint that enables us to move our legs. It's made up of many components including bones, muscles, and ligaments. The bones which make up the knee joint are:
- Femur (Thigh bone) which extends from the hip to the knee
-Tibia (Shin's bone) which extends from the knee to the ankle
-Patella (knee cap). The bone in front of the knee.

Patella(kneecap) is the small bone in front of the knee. It is held into position by muscles and ligaments. Injury to the bone is usually associated with injury to the muscles and the ligaments. Common causes of patella fracture include: -Road traffic accidents where the knee hits on the dashboard -Falling directly on the knee, especially on a hard surface -Sports injuries where the patella may be hit by a hockey stick, hockey ball etc. -Gunshot injuries
